The TSP6 - Underwater Edition is almost complete now. As stated earlier, this time of the year is pretty quiet, but hopefully things will start to liven up, at least with the arrival of the new server.
The plans for the new server machine have been slowed down a bit. The problem being faced at the moment is the lack of a sufficient internet connection for running a server to and from which large amounts of data will be transferred. Although I have a couple of ideas for a solution, nothing definite can yet be stated. Hopefully we will be able to solve this and provide a working and sufficiently fast service.

As some might have noticed, the guestbook was recently filled with 13 spam entries. All of these came from a host known as unknown.sagonet.net that seems to be infected with a spam virus, so if you happen to be a webmaster and notice this address in your logs, just ban it.
It's kind of amusing what kind of lame things people can do just to advertise some site about medicine.

School has started, and there's not that much time to be active on TSP. But both I and Crayfish are in the process of making an album to be released here on TSP, a new layout is being made and the reviews section is going to be improved. And the Mac mini server still has a high priority on my to-do list.
Oh, and another thing. We get up to 10-15 visitors a day nowadays, and we'd be really happy if at least some of you people would write feedback to the guestbook, or comments to the artists.

There's a new version of the TSP Latest Tracks widget for MacOS X 10.4 Tiger's Dashboard. It has the same functionality, but the interface is sleeker and more OSX-like. Both the old and the new version can be downloaded at add-ons.

A box that shows stats about each artist individually has been added to the artist viewing page. Currently you can see the number of tracks, the registration date, the average track rating and the amount of comments for the artist.

Cleaning all the code went faster than I'd thought - and the result is that the pages work a bit faster. While I was at it, I noticed and fixed quite a few bugs. For example, the guestbook was not displaying dates correctly, the "view/add comments" page didn't show the target artist's name at all and there were a couple of validation errors (alt:s were missing from images on the information/history page). I also made the main page show times of the day too (instead of dates only).
I also cleaned up the code of the stats menu on the right side and I managed to shorten it from more than 50 lines of code to 27. I also added a guestbook comment counter to it. I'm almost sure the stats menu was the last thing that needed to be changed after transferring from TSP5 to TSP6 and several pages should now load a bit faster.

Track deletion, comment deletion and guestbook management (admins only) won't work for a while because their code is being cleaned up and shortened.

The RSS feed for our tracks had a bug in it which caused the artist names of added tracks not to be displayed. This is now fixed. The feed can be found at http://shurikenproject.no-ip.org/musicrss.php.

TSP6 is now active and is in public beta testing - please report all bugs to shurikenproject@gmail.com.
New features in TSP6 are for example:
- The login system
- Faster pageloads
- A new layout
- A cleaner and more optimized code

It's 03:41 AM and I've just finished the last parts of TSP6. I'm currently doing final alpha tests and preparing TSP5 to be closed down. Only a few minutes left until the "official" launch of TSP6!

The "edit profile" and "submit track" pages are now functional. All that's left to program now is track deletion and the comment system.

Reason 3.0.3 - an update for Reason 3.0 has been released. This update fixes bugs that were encountered in 3.0 - such as abnormally high CPU usage, keyboard control issues and a lot more. Read more at Propellerhead Software.

The page that displays artist profiles and their tracks is now done. There's also a new "my account" menu visible when you're logged in which displays links to your artist page, profile editing, track submission etc.

A number of new features have been added; the most important being the login system. You can now stay logged in after entering your username/password and add tracks/edit your profile/whatever without having to input your password every time.
For the admins, a registration processing utility has been added. This means that any admin can now check for registrations and activate them. The old system, which sent emails to me for each registration, had many flaws - for example: it didn't work.
TSP6 is advancing rapidly and my goal is to get it done by next week's Tuesday.

TSP's first birthday will be here soon. To celebrate this, a new version of TSP will be activated; the shuriken project v6. This version is a rework of TSP5 and mainly concentrates on moving filesystem-based data storage into the database and optimizing/cleaning up the code. And what's more, there's a shiny new layout too! The goal is to make TSP faster and even more flexible with the future in mind.
